Jujube (Annab)

Jujube, called annab in Persian and sometimes red date, is a small reddish-brown fruit with a sweet, apple-like flavour. South Khorasan, around Birjand, grows some of the finest jujube in Iran, and it has a long history in Persian traditional medicine as a gentle, calming fruit.

Mojtahedi offers sun-dried whole jujube, cleaned and sorted, in sealed packs. Eat it as a snack with tea, simmer a handful in water for a soothing infusion that is popular before sleep and in the cold season, or add it to compotes and rice dishes.
